The Timeline

The Timeline sits under your slide and controls two things: when each element appears, and the layering of each element. Left to right is time. Bottom to top is layering.

Left to right is time #

Move an element or a narration track to the right and it appears later in the slide. Move it left and it appears earlier.

Bottom to top is layering #

Elements at the bottom of the Timeline sit furthest back, like a background. Elements at the top appear in front of everything else.

An example #

Say a slide has a white banner with four years appearing on it. The banner starts at 0 seconds, so it appears first. 1994 comes in around the one second mark, 2001 just before two seconds, then 2008, then 2015. That order is set by their position along the horizontal axis.

The banner sits on the bottom layer of the Timeline, so each year appears in front of it rather than behind it. That is the vertical axis at work.

The controls around it #

Timeline Scale zooms in and out. Fit View snaps everything back into view. Split Clip cuts a clip at the playhead. The play button previews the slide.

Tip: Keep each slide short to help with loading times. If you have a 1 minute video, we suggest cutting it into 2 slides. Each slide should be a single thought, not an entire section.
